Lozano opened the scoring at Philips Stadion in the 20th minute, before grabbing his second of the game on the hour mark. A notable treble for the El Tri star was completed in the 72nd minute, with Ajax unable to contain the very obvious threat that he poses.

Lozano has become the first PSV player to score a hat-trick in an Eredivisie clash with arch-rivals Ajax since Mark van Bommel in March 2005. That is quite some achievement and should help to cement his standing as a fan favourite in Eindhoven.

‘Chucky’ returned to PSV during the summer transfer window, with the 28-year-old winger bringing a four-year stint at Serie A title holders Napoli to a close.
