Aston Villa bid to keep hold of Jack Grealish

Aston Villa will be doing all they can to keep hold of their talismanic captain Jack Grealish and are willing to break the bank for him, as reported by The Mirror.

What’s the story

Grealish has taken the Premier League by storm since helping Villa earn promotion from the Championship through the play-offs.

His form has played a large part in Villa currently being outside of the relegation zone, but it has also caught the attention of some pretty massive clubs.

Within The Mirror’s report, Manchester United, Real Madrid and Barcelona are named among the clubs who are showing an interest in signing him during the summer.

It is suggested that Villa will have no hope of keeping him if they are relegated, as Grealish now expects Premier League football, but if they avoid the drop they will do everything possible to keep him.

Dean Smith spoke about the 24-year-old’s situation ahead of the Tottenham Hotspur clash, stating: “We’ve got two magnificent owners who want this club to be successful.

“They have got an awful lot of money which they’ve earned through their hard work in their businesses.

“They know that if you want to be a successful team you have to keep your best players. They will be working very hard to make sure our best players stop at this football club. That’s the best answer I can give about Jack.”

Did he really play for us?! No Villa fan has managed to name all of these obscure Villans….

Cards on the table

Prior to the Spurs game, Grealish had nine goals and five assists from 25 starts and two substitute appearances across all competitions.

Of his seven Premier League goals, two were decisive, one was the first and two were equalisers, indicating just how key his contributions have been to getting points on the board for Villa.

It also shows how progressive he has been in possession that 21.7 of his 40.9 passes per game come in the final third, while he also completes 2.4 dribbles per game.

Therefore it is understandable that Villa are putting their cards on the table and doing everything in their power to keep hold of the academy graduate.

Considering the calibre of sides pursuing his signature, no matter who Villa manage to bring in during the summer, if they keep hold of Grealish it will turn out to be their biggest coup.

Meanwhile, one Villa man is still yet to prove himself after arriving in the summer.
