After stretching their overnight first innings score of246 for five to 355 all out, they took four Karnataka wicketsfor 118 runs at close.Left hander S Sarath, 76 overnight, was out for 83. But theother overnight batsman Vasanth Saravanan kept the innings going<with a fine 64 for which he faced 141 balls and hit six foursand a six. He received good support from wicketkeeper Reuben Paul(27) and tailender J Gokulakrishnan (20 not out). India leftarm spinner Sunil Joshi finished with four wickets for 83from 50 overs.Openers Sujith Somasundar and Rowland Barrington gave Karnatakaa good start putting on 54 runs in 21 overs. But then Barrington,Tilak Naidu and A Vijay fell quickly and Karnataka were 72 forthree. Somasundar and Shiraguppi then retreived the situationwith a fourth wicket partnership of 44 runs. At close Somasundarwas batting with a patient 50 for which he has so far batted 209minutes and hit seven fours.
